Gary Vay-ner-chuk

August 2nd, 2008 by Fred

Went to see Gary Vaynerchuck at the threadless store on north broadway. It was nice cause he did a show on the spot and a Q&A. What sucked was the fact that I left my copy of his book at home. figuring I could buy one at the signing, I didn’t stop at Borders on the way. So sure enough they where only accepting credit card, didn’t have one on, big deal there is a borders about 4 blocks away. So I run down the borders @ 8:55 just to find out that they took all the stock to Threadless, so no book for me. Fortunately I was able to get back to Threadless for at least a picture with Gary V. and a couple of stickers that are now proudly displayed on my brother and my computers, and more will follow. That wine bottle Is too cool. And yes i had to scrunch down just a little bit.

AT&T Wifi @ Starbucks, No log in required?

June 18th, 2008 by Fred

I Dig it! I’m at a Starbucks in Homewood, IL and the wifi is up and running for free! This is pretty cool considering I wasn’t expecting it to be completely open. I am familiar with the new wifi program here, and to my understanding you need a Starbucks prepaid card and some money on it. You would then enter the number on the back of your card as your login ID and get 2 hours of free wifi or something like that. But here I am opening my macbook to check an email I had already downloaded when i see my mail.app refreshing and DLing more mail. Wow, I didn’t even have to log in! Refreshing, surprising, exciting and awesome, lets see how this works at other Starbucks now.

Garmin Edge 705 - Brings tech to my Bike!

Garmin Edge 705
On the growing list of stuff I want to buy, this is realistic. Ok not at all necessary but definitely a minor luxury I want. I know, why would you want a GPS device on you your bike, well, cause it’s cool! It is functional, really, it lets you look at the places you’ve trekked, see how hard you peddled and your heart rate. Again, I know i’m not lance armstrong, don’t really need these metrics for my workout. But damn if it isn’t cool as hell to see how fast your going and where you are on a cool little piece of technology I can take with me on my bike.  Can’t take my macbook on it, and since my iPhone fell into the toilet, I’m having serious withdrawal.
