I just bought a GF Supercaliber 29er on my trip back to the states (Michigan). i was wondering what "i might upgrade a few things but not until I get some use out of the stock stuff" - what you were considering upgrading? The only upgrade i made - and it was HUGE - was going tubeless using the stock wheels and stock jones XR tires. let me tell you, its like the achilles heal of this bike dis vanished. It FEELS like this bike shed 5 pounds. I do think the VERY rocky trails here had me crying i didn't buy the hifi 29er, but the sale price of the 2007 supercal was too much to give up.... i too am 240lbs and 6"4, GREAT BIKE for big guys. finally, im riding the bike instead of 'on top' of the bike. Only downside is that where i am, there are about 5 29er mtn bikes in the whole counrty...finding innertubes is near impossible, so that is really why i went tubeless. enjoy your bike and keep riding! as i was saying, the very very rocky downhills cause the bike to feel borderline fragile at speed. In addition to that, watch out for the stupid low pedal clearance, - i put my signature on just about every berm and rock on technical stuff... and its a real breathe stopper when you don't expect it.... My rear shock (manitou) leaks and needs to be re-pumped every other day. other than that, this bike puts a smile on my face every minute im on it. This baby loves to roll fast.
